In the Bible, how often do you see Jesus doing things for himself? Or trying to get other people's approval? He didn’t. Jesus knew that he didn’t need man's approval because the God of this world has already approved of Him.
God takes delight in us, He calls us friend. Because Jesus knows who He is in God he didn’t worry about what others thought. Have you ever read John 13:1-17? In this passage you see Jesus washing the feet of His disciples and showing them how to be a servant. The way Jesus served people didn’t make sense. Like why would the leader be washing the FEET of his disciples?
In the world we live in today it’s all about "me me me" and "me"...everyone is asking "what will I get out of it?" We are consumed with selfishness. What if we waged war on selfishness and served people the way Jesus did? Could you imagine the change in your school and the opportunities you will get to talk about Jesus when people ask you:
"Why are you so nice to the kid that everyone bullies?"
"Why did you buy that guy's lunch?"
"Why are you nice to that guy who was so mean to you?"
"Why are you so nice to your friends?"
Your identity isn’t in what car you drive, how many friends you have, what sport you play, not even what you look like. Your identity is in JESUS CHRIST--the one who publicly got beaten and bled for you on a cross. Did you read that? PUBLICLY! He was naked and beaten in front of SO many people. All for you! Do you know what Jesus says about you, just Google it? He calls you child, friend, free, flawless, accepted, chosen, blameless, forgiven, whole, alive. I could keep going but I want you to read it yourself. Because there is power in God's Word.
READ ACTS 10:35
In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.
How can we find our identity in Jesus if we don’t know what he says about us or how he feels about us? SUBMERGE yourself into God's Word so when the moment of insecurity or being unsure comes, you can easily remind yourself of who you belong to.
