Be More Confident...In Your Feet?

by Chandler Moreau

Is this a devotional about being confident in your feet? No its not. I tricked you. So either stopped reading, or maybe you could read it and hear what I have to say? Yeah? Sweet. Sounds good.

When you hear the word confidence, you think of a positive body image message, or being proud of what you have. Here are some wise words by our modern Philosopher, Justin Bieber. “She's confident, Oh, no, no, oh, no, no. And I’m down with it..... You could tell by the way she walks in the room.”

Being confident is something we should be able to notice! So what does it look like to be confident in the eyes of Christ? In the Bible, God has already communicated to us three things.

1. We are sinners.

2. We are forgiven.
3. We are loved.

So why do we care so much about what others think? You see, when we work to please God, we are worshiping Him. We can never “fall short” anymore because of God’s ultimate sacrifice. Yes we will fail, but God has forgiven us for the sins we have yet to commit. God cares about our effort towards having a deep and meaningful relationship with Him. So what now? We must find our identity in Christ. We must look to Him for love and hope. When we do that, we will learn to take the binoculars off ourself, and focus on others.

READ JOHN 13:14-17

And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16 I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. 17 Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.“I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.”

Wow. Jesus expects a lot out of us. He expects us to follow His example of how to live our lives, knowing full well that we will fall short. To become more like Christ, we must...

1.Understand that everyone is a sinner...
2.We must truly forgive them...
3.We must LOVE them, just as Christ did.

If we can do these 3 things, we will make more of an impact on others. Be more like Christ today.
