SPEAK UP

By Stephen Lane

Ok I want ya’ll to get comfortable and sit back and put your imagination caps on… Imagine you’re driving into your neighborhood like any other day and you turn on your street and you see what looks like a fire ahead.  You’re kind of worried, because let’s be honest, who wouldn’t be a little scared if you see a fire in your neighborhood. You get closer and closer and see that this fire is engulfing your neighbor’s house and you see that all their cars are in the driveway, so obviously they are home, but you don’t see them outside anywhere.  So an obvious solution to this problem would be to get out of your car and call 911 and try to do anything and everything you can to save them.  But instead you just open your garage door and pull in, shut the garage door and act as if you never saw anything…

Now I know none of us would really do that right? But hang on… isn’t that what we do when we fail to tell our friends and family the Truth about the cross and the Life that comes with it?  Isn’t that what we do when we choose the “easy” route because we don’t want anyone to think we’re “weird”?  We would rather not get into those conversations because, “what will people think?  What will people say about us?”

If we really believe what the Bible says… then anyone who has not made Jesus Lord and Savior of their life by the time they die (which we have no idea when that will be), then they will go to hell. Forever!  Hell! Fire! Torture! Forever!!!  And they will NEVER get the chance to change the decision they made while on earth. Do we not care?  Men and women of God, this isn’t an option! We need to be vocal about the Truth and tell anyone who has ears to hear!

Think about this analogy the next time you are around your friends or family who you know that do not know Jesus.  Are you going to continue to pull into your garage and act like you never saw anything?  Or are you willing to get out and do all that you can so that they can experience Life?
