How Much Do You REALLY Trust God?

By Haley Kelly

If I were to ask you what is causing you to stress out the most right now, I am sure that most of you would say it is money. The truth is, if you haven’t been stressed out about financial things yet, someday you will. Have you ever been in a situation where you had no idea how you were going to pay for things? Maybe you are in that situation right now. Today I would like to offer you some encouragement and remind to put your hope in God.

For starters, let me just say this; IT’S TEMPORARY! Your financial worries may last a few days, weeks, months, or even years. However, remember that we as Christians are not citizens of this world, and soon we will be going home to Heaven. Therefore do not focus on your problems, focus on the reward you will receive when you enter into the Kingdom!

Next, I would like to define a word I am sure we have all heard before; tithe. The definition for tithe is, “A tenth of a specified thing.” In Malachi 3:10, God instructs us to tithe our money (give ten percent of all we earn or receive) and to watch as He begins to pour out blessings upon us because of this. Right now some of you may be thinking that there is no way you can afford to give ten percent of your money at the moment. To be brutally honest, in the most loving way I would just like to say that by not tithing you are saying that you don’t trust that God can or will actually provide.

As a college student with a part-time job, I never have a lot of money and some days I have only a few cents in my bank account. I have learned to love to tithe and each day I anxiously look forward to see how God will bless me for doing so. I truly believe that God can do a lot more with the ten percent that I give Him, than I can do with the whole one hundred percent! When we put our trust in God by tithing, He will provide! All you have to do is put Him to the test and watch with great expectation.

READ PHILIPPIANS 4:19

I can tell you by experience that God will ALWAYS provide for your every need. He even loves us so much that sometimes He will provide for our desires as well just because He can! Show Him that you have faith that He will provide by giving the first ten percent of your finances.
