This past January through May God had to have called me to the crusty time of my life....... college...... at a university..... During this time it is safe to say I have never felt so thirsty for fellowship with the body of the church until my arrival at the University of North Texas. This spring semester was actually my first semester at UNT as a sophomore, and to be honest I always heard Hadley talk about the little to no existence of Christ fearing individuals on college campuses, but I did not know the crust was that real! At times I felt as if I was the only one on campus who walked with Jesus, or even knew who He was, until I came across this Christian club.
It was through this club I found the church body that my spirit was longing for, as well as the wisdom I received about the Holy Spirit. It was not until I was away at school that I learned the power of the Holy Spirit through a sister/mentor named Sara Kim. Sara is one of the adult leaders on campus that helps lead the club, she is Chinese, and before you ponder off and say, “what in the world does that have to do with anything”, hear me out. In the Bible there are countless stories about believers from all around the world who believed in the body of Christ, and walked as such. I always imagined how cool that must have been, but to actually have a person witness to you from another part of the world while also understanding the life Christ has called for us made me think, “how is it that she gets it?” In my mind she lived on the other side of the world, yet she still understands the message that saved my life two years ago.
READ EPHESIANS 4:4-6
Here is the thing—Sara may have been a forty year old, Chinese, woman from the other side of the world in my eyes, but in the eyes of our Savior there does not exist such differences, because we all become ONE in the ONE faith. The Holy Spirit is ALIVE, and when we all understand as one body in Christ that differences in gender, color, race, ethnicity, culture, or background does not matter we can call operate as the body, therefore my challenge to you is this, get connected to a body of believers this week, and physically write down what the Spirit did for you amongst them.
