I heard a story that happened a few years back. It has stuck with me all these years later. It was a story of a young boy having to trust his dad even when it was hard to. This family’s two-story house caught on fire. Flames swept through the house as the family scrambled to get out to safety. They made their way throughout the smoke- filled house to the front yard. As the parents looked to make sure everyone made it out, their hearts sank as they realized their 5-year-old son was still trapped inside. The father looked up and saw his son crying from his bedroom window. As the fire raged, the father knew, if he went back into the home, the flames and smoke would overcome him. His only option to save his son’s life was for the young boy to jump and have his dad catch him. So the father pleaded, “Jump! Jump son, I will catch you!” The young boy was sobbing uncontrollably with fear. The boy cried, “But I can’t see you daddy.” His father responded, “No you can’t, but I can see you! Jump! I promise I will catch you.” Finally, the little boy went out in faith and jumped. His father caught him like he promised he would do.
You see, the little boy couldn’t see because the smoke was so heavy from up top but at ground level the father could see him perfectly. The boy just had to trust his father and that he would get him to safety. That’s how God works. All He asks for us to do is take the leap and He’ll do the rest. He says, “I’ve got you!” What an amazing, loving, and powerful God we serve.
READ PSALM 18:2, ISAIAH 43:1-7
I want to encourage you to take that leap of faith God is bringing you to. Take it and watch God make Himself real to you. He promises He will be right there to catch and save you.
