Have you ever compared your spiritual life with the way a
cape buffalo responds to its predator? Well think again…
I was watching Animal Planet the other day and this specific
show showed a lion in pursuit of its prey, a cape buffalo. I quickly realized
one of the tactics that the lions use when they are stalking their prey. They chase their intended prey in order to
separate one of the animals from the rest of the herd. The lone buffalo is then
the sole focus of the predator because they have been isolated from the group. They
are vulnerable. They have strength in numbers, but are susceptible to attack when
alone. As strong as any one buffalo may be alone, their defenses are greatly
reduced when facing their predator alone. One response to an attack that a
buffalo often takes is to make a loud call to the herd and often times backup
will be on its way shortly.

The same applies to our spiritual life. God has given us
community for a purpose. It is vital for our well being to band together as brothers
and sisters in Christ. The enemy will come to attack, but together we are strong
and if one of us happens to get off track, the rest of us will be there to
help.
As an Underground leader myself, I get to see firsthand the
impact that Biblical community has on young men. So if you want this for
yourself, come to Underground, Verve, Sunday services, and every other opportunity
that presents itself to be together with the body. You will not regret it!
