Have
you ever tried to convince yourself that something isn’t bad, when you know it
is? For example you think, “I’m not going to do drugs, or get drunk at this
party so it’s totally ok for me to go!” But in reality you will probably be
using foul language, making crude jokes, or you might even end up having “one
drink” because that’s not getting drunk right? Or young men, let me holler at
you for a minute. When are you looking at images on the internet, or social
media, of ladies in bikinis and you try and convince yourself, “it’s not
technically porn.” But in reality, you are lusting after that image! And you
are compromising on The Word of God! You are trying convince yourself that
since you aren’t doing the “worst thing” or not “technically” doing something
that it is okay. Well I assure you that this is NOT the case!! God looks at
your heart!
Read Luke 9:23-25, 2 Timothy 2:22-24, and Ephesians 5:1-5
As you
read from the scripture above, it is clear that God wants us to go all in, in
our faith. Do not just compromise or stay away from one sin nature but allow a
different one. Flee from sin! Run in the opposite direction from anything that
isn’t of God! There is a good reason as to why God tells us throughout his word
to lay down our flesh and earthly ways and take up our cross and follow him!
Read Romans 6:23
The
reason is because He knows what the outcome and consequences of sin is. The
path of sin leads to destruction and death! We can’t always see what
consequences a small choice can have, but HE CAN! That’s why He warns us so much
to stay away from sin nature. Check your heart, really pray and think about the
choices you make. Is it glorifying to God, and edifying to your spirit? Or are
you trying to compromise and change The Word of God to better suite you?
