INTERCEDE TODAY

Zach Vertz

Through the years God has blessed me with many Christian friends but also he has given me many friendships with non-believers. (Yes, you can be friends with non-believers as long as you are the influencer in the friendship rather than the one being influenced). One particular friend of mine I met at my old college. We met in a class and instantly became friends. We started hanging out and I began to minister to him through our friendship. Towards the beginning of our friendship he was kind of shut off to faith. However, I continued to speak small truths to him in our everyday conversations.  I also began to intercede for him, a fancy word for- I began to pray for him. Then I started to see a small light in him and could tell he was searching for something more in this life. At this time Winter Chill was a month away and I knew that if I could get him to go and if I prayed leading up to the trip that he would give his life to Christ. So for the next month I began to intercede for him. I began praying throughout each day that God would save him. I even began to fast for him, pleading that God would save his soul. As it got closer to Winter Chill I could feel that God was going to deliver on His Word, that if we would ask He would do it as Matthew 7:7 says. Winter Chill finally rolled around and he was able to go. We took off and I was pumped because I could just feel that this was the weekend his life would change for the better. I kept praying and interceding for him and then Saturday night came and the pastor did an alter call and my friend went up to ask Jesus into his heart. I was blown away at the Lord. I still remember the feeling of seeing him walk to the front and kneel down and say the prayer. It was one of the greatest memories I have.

READ James 5:16 & 1 Timothy 2:1-4

You see if I had never interceded for him who knows what would have happened. But because I did my part by praying for him, God answered and I got an experience of a lifetime to see it take place before my own eyes. God tells us in these verses to intercede for one in other. Who in your life do you need to intercede for? Intercede today.
