Many of you may not know this, but I work part-time as a
pool guy. (By the time you are reading this devotional though, I will be
quitting to do student teaching full time.) I learned so much while being a
pool guy. First, I hate pools. Clean pools, dirty pools, empty pools, broken
pools...etc... Doesn’t matter what kind, just get them away from me! Secondly,
I really don't like having no heater or air conditioning. And last, being a
pool guy is hard work.
Work is our subject for this devotional. I thought I knew
what hard work was, but this past year has taught me a more relatable
definition of work. I often see people with a negative point of view when it
comes to work. In the time I have spent cleaning, I have prayed more than I can
keep track of. God has revealed to me His plan for our lives on this earth, and
that includes being a hard worker. Yes, work ethic is in the Bible! Check out
these verses.

COLOSSIANS 3:23-24
Most people have no motivation for work, especially in a job
they don’t enjoy. Workers believe that they are working for “Mr. Boss”. Some
people may have respect for the boss, and some people may not. Look back at the
word from Colossians. Look what it says about who you are doing the work for. I
believe God has blessed me with a great work ethic in order to worship Him
through my work. Don’t be lazy. Get up, and do something. If you don’t have a
job, then quit wasting your life away. Work for Christ! If God was your boss,
and came to you at the end of your work week, what would you tell Him you
accomplished? Remember that everything you are doing is for Him!
