Teach Me How To Dougie

By Chandler Moreau

Being married to Nia means that I have another family. Just try and think of your family, times two! I am so blessed to have the Freeman’s as part of my life. I love, just as if they were my own family.

During their family annual Christmas party, they have a tradition of dancing. As in, an X-Box Kinect, Dance Central, competition. For those of you who know me well, you know I am not a good dancer. I had no desire to step up in front of her immediate, and extended family, and embarrass myself! People would be confused, disgusted, and would ridicule my lack-of-moves. I had absolutely no intention of playing that game.

As time went on while playing this game, I remember Nia competing against a family member while doing the song “Teach Me How To Dougie”. I began thinking about the title, putting myself in its place. If I don’t know how to dance, I should ask someone to teach me!

READ 2 TIMOTHY 3:16 (NLT)

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

As a Child of God, He calls us to do what is right. How do we know what is right? Look in the scriptures! I love how this verse approaches scripture, saying that it is “useful” tool in order to teach us. If you don’t have a teachable spirit, you will never learn to do what is right. Here is an example. If someone came up to you and told you that you weren't going after God, what would you say? Would you have a teachable spirit? I challenge you to pray this morning and ask God give you a teachable spirit.
