Change is inevitable. It’s sometimes good and sometimes bad. Change happens when you graduate high school and you are looking forward to new friends, new scenery, and a new life at college. Change also happens when you have to get used to living without a loved one.
Not a lot of people know this, but my family used to be the foster parents of three little girls. These foster girls were part of our home for around three years and become the sisters whom I loved. Eventually, the mother gained the children back, and fled to Lubbock. Just like that, my little ‘sisters’ were snatched from my hands and my heart. During this time, I constantly questioned God as to why this was happening. I didn’t understand His master plan, but had to move on.
READ GENESIS 19:15-26
Like the verses you just read, God asked me to move on and not look back. Because we were an open foster home, I have become the big brother to three more children in need of a home. Even though I questioned His plan, he had so much planned for my future. God asks us to leave behind other things in life, too. In the verse you read, Lot’s wife was told to not look back, yet she wasn’t able to let go of her past life and move on. Often times, God will remove us from situations in order to carry out His greater plan. In our pre-Christ life, everything we did was useless. Now that we are His children, all of our work is for His kingdom. I challenge you to question yourself in all of your words, thoughts, and actions. Am I dwelling in my past life, or am I focused on God’s will for me? Is there something God wants YOU to let go of in order for Him to work through you?
