You Know My Name, Not My Story

by Jessica Meador

Who TRULY knows your story...like for real?

Your mom?
Your sibling?
Your best friend?

What about you? How well do you know YOU? You're probably thinking, "I know myself pretty well, actually. Like I know what makes me mad and what makes me happy."

How about you tell me how many hairs are on your head? Haha...for real...go ahead try and count them.

“And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered”.

In Matthew 10:30 Jesus is saying, "I know EVERYTHING about you! I even know the number of hairs that are on your head."

WHAT?!?! Think about that for a second…..He knows the good the bad and the ugly. Nothing about you surprises God. There is such freedom and power in knowing that. We often believe the lie that there is power in secret keeping or staying hidden.  Did you know that’s what the enemy wants? He wants you be bound in pride and shame with what you’ve done or who you once were.

Think back to the story that we read last Wednesday.  Jesus didn’t walk up to the Samaritan Woman and think, "Wow…I wonder who she is taking that water to?" Jesus saw her mess and offered her living water. He pursued her even though He knew she was doing wrong in her life. The best part? He made her NEW. Jesus knows and understands the weight of this world and how sin corrupts us.

Read JOHN 4:39-42

Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, “He told me everything I ever did!” 40 When they came out to see him, they begged him to stay in their village. So he stayed for two days, 41 long enough for many more to hear his message and believe. 42 Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard him ourselves. Now we know that he is indeed the Savior of the world.”

So I leave you with this...Jesus came to break every chain! He calls us to freedom! Today may you be reminded that He fully KNOWS and Fully LOVES YOU!
