Have you ever found yourself
feeling like you’re going backwards in your spiritual life? Or maybe that you
are at a place where you thought that “surely by now” I would have gotten past
this sin struggle or trial. Or maybe you thought that by now you would have
grown so much spiritually that you would be going out and healing people and changing
the world for God’s kingdom but you are still stuck in the same place you were
in a year ago? Still trying to make time with the Lord, still trying to pray
and read Gods Word? I don’t know about you but this was what my walk looked
like for some time.
So many times we stay in the same
place spiritually because we’ve forgotten the basics of our faith. We want to
do these huge monumental things for Christ, or have a vibrant life that is full
of passion for Christ but we are neglecting our power source, Jesus. This power
source can only be tapped into if you are making time with Him. For example, if
you want to watch your favorite television show you will most likely use your
remote to turn the television on with. However, if this remote doesn’t have any
batteries in it, the remote will be useless. Without the batteries you won’t be
able to turn it on because the remote is missing its power source—it’s empty
inside. This is the same with our spiritual lives. So many times we wonder why
we continue to stay stagnate in our faith but it’s because we are neglecting
our power source-- Jesus.
John
15:5
Yes, I am the vine; you are the
branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For
apart from me you can do nothing.
This verse portrays Christ as the
vine and us as the branches. This means that he is our source of life. If us
being the branches don’t have a vine to be connected to we will wither up and
die. You see branches are dependent upon the vine. Once the vine and the
branches are in sync with one another the branches will begin to bear fruit.
This means as you and I connect with Christ our lives will begin to be filled
with a vibrant passion for Christ. I challenge you today to turn off all
potential distractions around you and simply talk with Christ and meditate on
His Word and think about how it directly applies to you (your problem, your situation--
your life). By doing this you are feeding the power source that is Christ and I
promise that your faith will begin to deepen and you will go to new heights in
your walk with Christ.
